A Baby Happened, Part 2

If you haven’t been following over on Instagram, a lot has changed for our family this summer.

In late May we received the devastating news that River, our most amazing dog and the namesake of this company, had a mass on her heart that was inoperable. The previous year, we had removed an aggressive cancer from her jaw and hoped the cancer wouldn’t return for the remaining few years we expected her to be around. Our hearts are broken to have lost her so unexpectedly. Not a day goes by that we don’t think about her. But as Frodo wrote in the last Lord of the Rings movie (nerd alert here) - “You cannot always be broken in two, you must be one and whole for your part in the story goes on.”

And so it went on…to more joyful news.

We welcomed our second daughter into the world on July 27th. We’ve been taking some time to find our groove as a family of four, and I’m finding being a mom of two is SO MUCH FUN. I love having both stages going at once. The newborn snuggles and sounds melt my heart, and the play time with my 20 month old makes me feel like a kid again.

Having these two in my life has just made my dream to grow gardens and make homemade products with safe ingredients even more apparent. My eldest has always dealt with allergies and skin sensitivities, which helped bring to light how a lot of the big box products have SO MANY ingredients in them. Making soap out of less ingredients, and more natural ingredients, became so important to me.

Same goes with the food we grow. Knowing what I’ve put into it helps me keep peace of mind when I’m feeding my family.

I’m thankful I get to pursue these hobbies and happy to share them with all of my friends and family, and you!

Things may be a bit slow around here as I soak up motherhood, but know we are here and things are still in motion.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates for our product line!
